Ok, well almost. Just one newborn sessions away from being COMPLETELY caught up on editing ;)
So with that in mind, I thought...maybe I should take a 5 minute breather to put together the first of my "Best of 2016" blog posts! Last year was a busy one for newborns. I was a newborn photographer in Moncton, in Fredericton, and all over PEI...and it was so, so much fun. I'm so thankful for every single family that entrusted my to capture their babes' first photographs, and I couldn't have had a better time snuggling those Tiny Humans :) Most of these image's sessions haven't even been blogged yet, so go ahead and enjoy some of my favourites from my 2016 newborn work!
Posing and photographing Tiny Humans on their own is what I spend the bulk of my time on during a newborn session (excluding newborn lifestyle sessions). Much of my learning has been focused on the safest and most comfortable ways of posing babes, and while the posing part of a session is an absolute study in patience, it's necessary in attaining an image of your babe where he or she is safe, cozy, and relaxed! As for posing styles, my personal taste leans toward natural posing, and while I obviously adore a good sleepy shot, I also LOVE having some happy, wide-eyed shots of little ones to mix into a gallery! Here are my favourite shots of newborns (excluding parent and sibling poses) from my 2016 newborn sessions!
Newborn Family + Parent Posing {Moncton Newborn Photographer}
Mommas, Daddies, and their sweet little bundles. There is NOTHING quite like watching new parents...their faces a little (sometimes a lot!) tired and uncertain, but also so calm and protective and so, SO in love. As a newborn photographer, my goal is capture images that are honest, gentle, and soft...but also capturing the fierce bond between the parents and new babe. When I look back on my images and see those things...I know I've done my job well!
Newborn Sibling Posing {Moncton Newborn Photographer}
Sibling posing during newborn sessions (both studio, and lifestyle) can be one of the trickiest parts of the session. More often than not, you're working with toddler-aged siblings, and the last thing they usually feel like doing is snuggling up next to their new baby brother or sister for anything long than 0.2 seconds ;) This just makes the resulting shots feel like even more of an accomplishment!
Okaaaaay...the below shot isn't from 2016...but look how stinking cute my own little kiddos are!!!!!
And now. SO many times, I've been asked what my favourite images I've ever taken are. Honestly, there's just no way to narrow that down, unless I do it by genre and year...and seriously, even then it's hard to do! This past year though, there were two specific newborn images that really stood out to me, both in their simplicity and their emotion. These are definitely two of my favourite newborn images EVER, not just for 2016 :) So here they are...daddies and their babes :) ALL THE FEELS!!!!
And there you have it! My favourite newborn shots from 2016. Here's to 2017 being just as adorable!
